AVIS SIMPSON Obituary

AVIS RUTH SIMPSON Avis Ruth (Anderson) Simpson of St. Paul, formerly of Mora and Maynard, passed away on June 23, 2023. Avis was born on April 14, 1930, in Montevideo, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Swanson) Anderson. She grew up in Maynard. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated as valedictorian from Maynard High School in 1948. Avis received her RN degree from Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. She married John Simpson in March 1951 and moved to Mora where they made their home. She began her career as a nurse at the Cambridge State Hospital. In 1971, Avis and John moved to St. Paul. There Avis was a nurse and midwife for Christ's Household of Faith. Throughout her career she delivered over 500 babies. She also collaborated with local doctors in several clinical trials. She enjoyed piano, singing, crocheting, good conversation and caring for the needs of all those around her expressing her love and faith in Christ. Avis is survived by her brother Emil (and Lois) Anderson of Maynard and also by Kenya Kamara, Asa Edwards, Travis Walker, Tyrone Dabney, Ednika Dabney, Dezi Fuentes, their children and grandchildren, and Avis's numerous nieces and nephews. Avis is buried at Oakland Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her sister, Evelyn (Anderson Erickson) Paulson, and brothers-in-law Robert Erickson and Donald Paulson.

AVIS & John taught Sunday School at our little country school church...
American Sunday School Union by Ann Lake in Mora MN. Very pretty lady. I have happy memories of her.
