Bruce Falla of Montevideo died on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Brookside Senior Living at the age of 85.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday.
Bruce was born on May 20, 1940 in Montevideo, MN to Arthur and Julia (Rear) Falla. Bruce attended Montevideo Public Schools, graduating in 1958. He was united in marriage to Arlene Grove and to this union, three children were born (Laurie, Brent, and Nikki).
Bruce was an excellent father and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren and was always their biggest fan. He was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed during the ups and downs of their daily lives and they will cherish his memory and miss him always.
Bruce was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring when he was 57½. He absolutely loved being a mailman and he knew every dog on his route by name. He also knew all the kids as they would follow him in hoards just to get some of the precious candy that he passed out to them so graciously.
Bruce was also a member of the National Guard and was proud of his military service as well as his son Brent's service in the U.S. Navy. He was a proud American and loved watching the U.S. Flag waving outside his window.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt, which he did until his failing health no longer allowed it. One of his favorite past times was when folks stopped over at his house to sit at the kitchen table, have a beer and talk smart. He absolutely loved a good game of buck euchre or shaking some dice. His door was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by whether it be his friends, his children's friend, a relative, or a neighbor.
Bruce loved nothing more than a good Minnesota Vikings game and spent many hours watching westerns on Grit TV (his favorite channel) or anything on National Geographic.
Bruce is survived by his children: daughter Laurie Falla of Richfield, MN; son Brent (Corazon) Falla of Murrieta, CA; and daughter Nikki Flatequal of Brandon, SD; grandchildren, Clarissa Kruse of Sioux Falls, SD; Paxton (Britta) Flatequal of Shakopee, MN; Corina (Dan) Baray of Murrieta, CA and Sarah Falla of Murrieta, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins (oh, so many cousins). Bruce was preceded in death by his former wife and best friend, Arlene (Grove) Nogaj, his grandchildren, Aaron Flatequal and Adam Flatequal; son-in-law Charles "Chuck" McGrew; parents, Arthur and Julia Falla; sisters Darlyne Ryman and Fern Weckwerth; brothers-in-law Benny Ryman and Victor Weckwerth.
We would like to thank the staff at Brookside Senior Living, Dr. Nicholas Krueger and CCM Health for the loving and excellent care they gave to Bruce over the years as well as Centracare Hospice for the care and dignity given to Bruce in his final days.
