Dear Dr. Penn, Lisbeth, and Brian's family: Michael and I were saddened at the passing of a dear friend, Brian, who brought inspiration and joy to our lives in the brief time we knew him. Whether discussing political history, real estate investments, or the antics of his three cats, Brian approached life with enthusiasm and an energy that defied his physical condition. Mike will miss stopping by Jack in the Box to pick up a #16 and a diet Coke for a casual lunch, and I will miss cooking an inventive meal for him on one of his visits to our home. He was a great "uncle" to our cats, Inky and Buddy, and our lives were enhanced by knowing Brian. May the knowledge that Brian touched the lives of others be a comfort to you at this time of loss and sorrow. Our best tribute is to remember Brian with a smile. Fondly, Mike and Judy Mervis
