His emphasis was on tornadoes and lightening and he pursued research in weather forecasting.

I never got to meet Carl, but we were friends on Facebook and I followed his adventures there. He always had a kind word to say to his fans, which made me admire him more. The work that he, Tim and the rest of TWISTEX did will no doubt save many more lives. I wish that I could have met him in person. He will be so missed by many. My heart, love and prayers go out to his friends and family. We now have an angel watching over us. Keep chasing those storms in the sky Carl. We love you. You won't be forgotten.

I was so saddened to hear the Carl had died. I had only met him once while he was doing what he loved doing. He was staging for a severe storm system that was supposed to be coming through the area in which I live. I knew nothing about it but he was right. The storm chasing community has lost a great storm chaser. May he rest in peace.

DEP.

I moved into the tornado alley and had no idea what to expect. After going through some smaller tornadoes I was so freaked out that I would have panic attacks every time the sirens went off. Thanks to Carl and all his research I didn't have to be in fear and knew what to expect. Thank you Carl! When the EF5 tornado hit Joplin, Mo. I knew what to do and I survived because of YOUR work. Condolences to the family. You lost a wonderful member of your family.

I met Carl, the beginning of this year in San Jose at our show at The Blank Club, performing a tribute to his favorite band DEPECHE MODE. He also brought a friend who was exposed to our show. I got to meet both of them and chatted with him after the show. He was very impressed and expressed his devotion to his favorite band and gave us a great compliment - It was an awesome night meeting him, we took a pic and now when I see this picture I will always remember him, his smile and love for music. We got to see him one last time - Glad I had the opportunity to meet someone like Carl. My condolences to his family and friends. You will be missed.

Makes my heart hurt to think of what happen to Tim, Carl and Paul. I hope their lives weren't given in vain and that any data collected can help more people in the future. I know it's a dangerous job, but I have so much respect for all three of them, who face such danger for my safety along with the safety of others. I hope Carl's family knows just how much he was loved and appreciated for his courage and commitment in helping save lives by his research. Thanks to all the storm chasers out there trying to make a difference. My prayers go out to Carl's family.
