Celia Leker Obituary
November 19, 1928 ~ August 29, 2011
PACIFIC GROVE, CA - After a period of failing health, Celia Leker passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011. Celia was born in Toronto, Canada and was the youngest in a large family.
With her husband, Franklin Leker, the family moved from Buffalo, New York and settled in Monterey where "Ceil" and Frank owned an eclectic furniture store for 27 years. Together, they built a unique "tree house" overlooking the Monterey Bay where they raised three sons.
She was an avid tennis player, enjoyed traveling and volunteered as a teacher at Congregation Beth Israel, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and other organizations over the years. Ceil was passionate about poetry and art. More recently, Celia lived at Canterbury Woods where she developed many friends.
The family would like to thank the community of Canterbury Woods for their caring and compassion during the last years of her life.
She leaves behind three sons, Robert (Randee), Joel (Juli) and David as well as four grandchildren, Eva, Forrest, Hannah and Isaac.
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Mission Memorial Park at 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside, CA 93955. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Congregation Beth Israel Building Fund.

To the family of Celia Leker,
I was saddened today at the news of Celia's passing. Celia was a kind and thoughtful person. I looked forward to seeing her at our office for her appointments. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family. I will miss her deeply.
