Edward C. “Ted” Parrott Obituary

Edward C. "Ted" Parrott
August 8, 1923 ~ February 4, 2008
SEASIDE – Ted passed away at his home, as he would have wanted. Born to John and Bridget Parrott in Limerick, Ireland, he was the second of five children.
A veteran of the Royal Air Force 619 Squadron, he was shot down over Berlin and spent 18 months as a POW. He worked in his father's radio and cycle business in Dublin after the war until emigrating to Montreal, Canada in 1950. After three years in the aircraft industry in Canada, he moved to the Monterey Peninsula, where he worked in the electronics and TV business and in car sales. Cars were a great passion and he raced in the Pebble Beach Road Races and at Laguna Seca. He also worked as a yacht broker and marina manager, jobs he enjoyed as he was near two of his other great loves, boats and the sea. Always active, he loved to be outdoors, either walking, cycling or playing tennis. In recent years he could be found every Sunday playing pool with his friends at Asilomar. He loved learning and never lost his enthusiasm for new things, especially technology and nutrition. He was passionate about the health and welfare of those he cared about, and valued his friends more than he could ever say. He was a voracious reader, loved a good joke, and was a great story teller. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Eva, of Pacific Grove; his sisters, Clare, Joan and Shirley, of the Monterey Peninsula; his brother, George, of Ireland, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

To Ted and Eva. We are thinking of you both at this sad time and although we never met your dad, we enjoyed hearing of his interesting life. It is obvious from the tributes that Ted jnr has inherited some of Ted snrs best qualities as Ted and Eva have been very good friends to us.

Sadly, for me, I didn't know Ted very well. I remember him stopping in at Dr. Sky's and talking to me about his inventions. He was so animated and enthusiastic about them and so willing to share ideas and give advise. I felt very comfortable around him and was always happy when he stopped in. Recently, he shared some very valuable information with David about health issues. His recommendations have changed my life and may very well have saved it! We've lost a very wise and gentle soul but he left many gifts to us. Thank you Ted. You are missed.

Ted and Eva,
During such a time of sadness, I hope you will remember what a huge role you both played in adding quality, energy, and joy to Ted's life. You have also been so patient, loving and kind to someone uniquely complex and remarkable in their ways. I know Ted loved and appreciated you both very much. I know he cherished every trip to Filoli, breakfast at Toro Cafe, the Sunday evening cup of tea, and the trips to get car parts. So, may you find healing with time, and may you hold special memories near and dear to your hearts.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
