Louis V. Schmidt

Pebble Beach - Louis V. Schmidt, 84, resident of the Monterey Peninsula since 1965, died December 19, 2010, due to heart complications. Dr. Schmidt earned his PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from Cal Tech, Pasadena, CA. He taught PhD students aeronautical engineering at the Naval Post Graduate School. He was married to Marguerite Schmidt and is survived by their son, Phillip Schmidt, 56, of Rancho Palos Verdes. Lou married his great companion, Valerie Egland, of San Juan Bautista, in 2006. Arrangements are by Paul Mortuary of Pacific Grove. Services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 4:00pm at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Monterey with a reception immediately following.

Louis Schmidt was a kindly and gentle man who will long be remembered. As my close friend Phillips' father, he was a joy to be with and his sense of humour always a treat. He will be missed by many.
