Sarah Nance

Sarah L. Nance. 1924 - 2005. PACIFIC GROVE - Sarah L. Nance, Age 81, of Pacific Grove. Passed away December 17, 2005 at Community Hospital in Monterey. Sarah was born August 27, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio to Thomas & Ida Leigh. Sarah began her college education at Morgan State University and completed it at San Jose State University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Sarah traveled all over the world with her husband, Calvin, who was in the U.S Army at the time. A 43 year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, Sarah enjoyed raising her children, Christopher and Cedric, was active in the PTA at David Avenue Elementary School and was a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts. Mrs. Nance was active in and donated her time to the American Red Cross and for years she was a Polling Station volunteer at various precincts in Pacific Grove. Sarah was a member of St. Angela's Catholic Church and the church Alter Society. She was also an avid golfer and bowler, participating in two women's state bowling championships. Sarah also enjoyed working and tending her garden and was an avid lover of roses. Sarah will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Nance is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Calvin Nance of Pacific Grove, her loving son Christopher (Nicholette) Nance of Southern California, her cherished granddaughter, Noella Nance and her dear brother, Thomas Leigh of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday December 22nd 11:00a.m at St. Angela's Catholic Churchin Pacific Grove. Interment to follow at San Carlos Catholic Cemetery in Monterey. Arrangements by The Paul Mortuary of Pacific Grove.
