Stephanie Fathy Obituary

Stephanie Kaiser Fathy
December 26, 1984 - May 25, 2022
Salinas
Our dear Stephanie was tragically taken from us far too soon by a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. Steph passed away at the young age of 37, less than a year from her initial diagnosis.
The daughter of a prosperous multi-generational Salinas Valley family, Steph effortlessly achieved anything she set her mind to. In her professional life, she excelled and improved every organization she was a part of. From her teen years managing the Lancome counter at Macy's, to her meteoric rise at a private law firm, and lastly, in her service to Monterey County Superior Court, Stephanie was quickly recognized as amazing and accordingly promoted by her superiors. At the time she stopped working she had somehow become a de facto professional "herder" of the local judicial bench and public information officer. The judges, administrators and lawyers who worked with her would uniformly agree that Steph was incredible, classy, and improved every project or team she touched.
To know Stephanie was to love her. When you spoke with her, she was present and kind. People opened up to her and sought her friendship- she was an incredible confidant. Stephanie was completely oriented towards her "pack"- her friends and close family members (which certainly included pets). She was a wonderful and elegant host with style, and could put on a dinner unlike anyone else. She made you feel special and comfortable in her presence, and had unique meaningful relationships with so many people.
Stephanie in her seeming perfection was also an incredible wife and selflessly devoted mother to her now nearly two-year-old son, Samuel James Fathy. She absolutely adored him and made every decision with him in mind. Even in her last days, she made sure her husband Jake left the hospital at the end of the day so he would be there to put Sammy to bed and wake him in the morning. She was selfless.
Her greatness did not stop there. She was the consummate good daughter, sister, wife, aunt, in-law, etc., and bettered the entire extended family. She loved all of us very much, and we all felt and cherished that love. Her sister (Michelle Kaiser) and Steph seemingly had a telepathic ability. Oftentimes the two sisters would enter hysterical laughing fits nobody else could understand, but it made us happy to see.
Steph also enjoyed being adulated and spoiled. Oftentimes her mother Paula Kaiser or grandmother Sylvia Seedman would resort to bribing her to go to school by promising Baskin Robbins ice cream or Tico's Tacos. Her father Morry and she had a very close relationship they both treasured. She was absolutely gorgeous and even prettier on the inside.
We, her grieving family, want to call attention to the battle against breast cancer and the sad prevalence of it in women younger than 40. On behalf of Stephanie, please honor her by encouraging the women in your family to consider early screenings for breast cancer and to support breast cancer research.
Donations can be made in Stephanie's name to Susan G. Komen Foundation (Komen.org).
Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
