Cobb, Douglas

Douglas Perry Cobb (58) passed away on December 31, 2016

Doug was born on March 9, 1958, and was a native and resident of Montgomery, AL.. An Eagle Scout, he attended Auburn University where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and remained a War Eagle fan. He was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church. Doug was an employee of Bailey Brothers Music Company for sixteen and a half years where he served as the Service and Installation Manager.

He is predeceased by his father, James Perry Cobb, his nephew, Austin Perry Cobb, and his sister-in-law, Judy McBryde Cobb.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Brown Cobb; his brother, David Brackin Cobb; his nephew, Samuel David Cobb (Joanie) Destin, Fl, and his great nephew, Brackin Cobb and great niece, Maddox Cobb.

Visitation will be at Leak Memory on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1:00pm op 2:00pm

A celebration of his life will be conducted by Rev. Carolyn Nelson at Leak Memory Chapel on January 8, 2017 at 2:00pm with burial following the service at Tri Community Cemetery, Millbrook, AL.

Pallbearers will be Randy Summerlin, Andy Erickson, Edward L. Godbold, Jr., William H Dennis, Jr., Charles S. Cobb, Jr., and Rev. Cade Farris.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Family Sunshine Center, P. 0. Box 5160, Montgomery, AL 35160.

I just came across Doug's obituary when doing a Google Search. We met at Auburn, I'm positive I became an ATO little sister because of him. I've often thought of Doug over the years, hoping his life was as wonderful as he was. Our song, Taxi, remains my favorite song of all time. I always wanted to see him again, now I will in Heaven. Such a positive influence on the lives of many, who helped us get through good times and bad times through the gift of music. Doug taught me how to properly emcee on a microphone...even took time once to try and teach me how to beat match and mix records. I failed at learning the latter, lol, I feel forever Blessed to have known such a wonderful human being as Doug Cobb.
