FREDERICK SHERMAN Obituary

SHERMAN, Frederick Earle,79, died at his home in Montgomery on Saturday morning, May 12, 2007. A visitationwill be held on Tuesday evening, May 15th , from 5 - 7p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at 10:30 a.m.at Woodland United Methodist Church with Rev. CorySmith officiating. Dr. Sherman is survived by his wife of54 years, Mattie RobinsonSherman, their daughter, Julia Sherman (Paul) Scholtes ofLaguna Hills, CA and sons,Frederick (Charlotte) Sherman of Plymouth, MN, John(Vikki) Sherman of San Diego,CA and Matthew (Kim) Sherman of Ellicott City, MD. Hetook great pride in his ninegrandchildren: Carolyn,Katherine, Virginia, Ryan,Alexandra, Emily, Brandon,Anna and Olivia. He is alsosurvived by a sister, AliceWheeler of Gainesville, FL.Dr. Sherman was born in Sanford, FL. He served as drummajor of the Auburn UniversityMarching Band in 1945 andwas a graduate of AuburnUniversity's School of Veterinary Medicine. He served inthe U. S. Army VeterinaryCorps from 1946 to 1947. Hepracticed veterinary medicine for over 35 years insouthern California andserved as President of the SanDiego Veterinary Medical Association. He was a memberof the California VeterinaryMedical Association, American Veterinary DermatologyAssociation and the American Animal Hospital Association. Fred and Mattie raisedtheir four children in La Mesa,CA before retiring to Montgomery in 1989. Fred was adevoted husband and father.He was a member at Woodland United Methodist Churchand sang in the choir. Hewas former chairman of theBoard of Trustees at Woodland. He was an avid golferand member of the ""Top-of-the-Hill Gang"" at ArrowheadCountry Club. He enjoyed robust health and shot a 79 onthe golf course just days before his passing. He will bemissed by many peopleacross the country. In lieu offlowers, donations may besent to Woodland UnitedMethodist Church, 4428Wallahatchee Road, PikeRoad, AL 36064. Alabama Heritage Directing
