JOHN BOWLES Obituary

BOWLES, John Ernest, a lifelongresident of Tallassee and LakeMartin, went to be with the Lordearly Friday morning, February16, 2007. He was born in Tallassee on April 17, 1925, one of thefive children of Ernest and Berniece Bowles of Tallassee. Hewas raised in the Tallawekacommunity in Tallassee and attended Tallassee High Schoolwhere he played football. Hemarried Betty Dunn and entered the US Army where hewas a veteran of both WorldWar II and Korea. He and hisbrother, Billy, owned and operated a feed store and groceryin Tallassee and a grocery inEclectic. He retired severalyears ago and has spent muchof his time at home with his wifeBetty, where they were activemembers of two bridge clubs.He is preceded in death by hisparents, Ernest and BernieceBowles and a daughter, Debbie Bowles Weldon. He is survived by his wife, Betty Bowles,daughter and son-in-law Ginaand Hal Lowman, sister JuneBrodzinski, brothers Billy Bowles,Pete Bowles, Bobby Bowles,and James and Mary Bowles,six grandchildren, Josh Cullars,Heather Weldon Harmon, Kayla Weldon, Pitts Lowman, TaraLowman Inman, and HaleyLowman, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces andnephews, and a host of wonderful friends. Funeral serviceswill be held on Saturday, February 17, at 2 PM at TallawekaBaptist Church with burial inRose Hill Cemetery. Visitationwill be held at the church twohours prior to the funeral. Pallbearers are John Nummy, Doyle Frazier, Harry Hayes, PittsLowman, Josh Cullars, andKenny Peters. He was a lovingand caring husband, father,grandfather and friend.
