JOYCE PETERMAN

Peterman, Joyce Curtis Helms, age 81, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013. This beloved mother, preacher's wife and educator was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Rev. Jerry Helms; husband of 11 months, John David Peterman and son, William Luke Helms.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Helms (Cyndi) of Phenix City, Alabama and Matt Helms (Tracie) of Webb, Alabama; two step-sons, Tom Peterman (Sue) of Boston, MA and Larry Peterman of Mobile, Alabama; four grandchildren, Sarah Helms, Kathryn Helms, Becky Helms and Will Helms; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Bush of Troy, Alabama; two nephews, Joseph and Jeffery Bush and Steve Baker and a good friend, Ron McCaul.

The service will be officiated by her sons, Rev. Mark Helms and Dr. Matt Helms. The following men will serve as pallbearers: Joe Breeding, Don Messick, Bill Ficken, Lothar Zell, Johnny Garner, David Robertson and alternate, Dennis Painter.

The funeral service will be Thursday, February 14, 2013. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 4211 County Road 15, Union Springs, Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the building funds of the following churches that are represented within the family: Webb Baptist Church, Webb, Alabama, Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, Georgia, Vaughn Forest Church, Montgomery, Alabama and Macedonia Baptist Church, Union Springs, Alabama.
