KIM, Dr. Ki Hang, a resiídent of Montgomery, Alaíbama, departed this lifeon Thursday, January 15,2009, at home. He was bornin Anjoo, Korea in 1936. Visitaítion will be held at Holy SpiritCatholic Church, 8750Vaughn Road at 10:00 a.m.on Saturday, January 17,2009. The memorial servicewill follow at 11:00 a.m. withPastor Reverend MonsignorCharles Troncale officiating. Areception will follow the servíice for family and friends atArrowhead Country Club, 50Ocala Drive. Interment will beat Alabama Heritage at a latíer date. Dr. Kim is survived byhis wife, Myong Kim; son,John (Deborah) of Daphne,AL; daughter, Linda (Ken) ofLos Angeles, CA; grandchilídren, Hayden Suslow and Wilíliam Suslow; sister-in-law,Marion (Peter) Kwon of NewPort, VA; brothers-in-law,Young Ho Swang of Glassoníbury, CT, Young Hoon Swangof New Jersey, NY. He servedin the United States Army from1952-1956. He served as theDean of Mathematics at Alaíbama State University, wherehe was also an excellentMathematics Professor for 35years and changed the livesof many students. After 23years of pouring over longcomplex mathematics equaítions, Dr. Kim was one of twoprofessors who disproved anestablished thermo dictatingthe way computer codingwas written. His work was pubílished in the prestigiousPrinceton Journal Annals ofMathematics. Dr. Kim did alot of research in mathemaítics and is recognized as acelebrity in the mathematicsworld. He was commissionedby Governor Fob James, Jr.,in 1996, as an Honorary Alaíbama Colonel for his outístanding leadership. He wasa wonderful husband, father,grandfather and brother-in-law. He was an inspiration tomany and will be greatlymissed.
