Monreko Crittenden Obituary
MONREKO
Monreko Durand Crittenden (Chub), born March 14, 1980, transitioned this life on June 25, 2015. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM from St. Jude's Educational Institute Gymnasium, 2080 West Fairview Ave, Montgomery, AL 36108. Interment will follow in Adams Cemetery, Hope Hull, AL. Monreko was a high school graduate of St. Jude's Educational Institute. He was an avid sportsman who excelled at football, basketball, and track. Monreko's college career was experienced as an Auburn University Tiger where he earned All-Southeastern Conference honors as a three-year starting offensive lineman and two-time First Team All-SEC in 2002 and 2003. Loving memories of his life will be cherished by his wife, Chaterrica D. Crittenden, Montgomery, AL; daughter, Jamarica M. Smith, Montgomery, AL; mother, Yvonne E. Williams, Montgomery, AL; father, Karlen McCree, Montgomery, AL; stepfather, Dennis Williams, Montgomery, AL; sisters, Shatara Lee (Brian), Columbia, SC; LaShanda McCree, Kyra McCree, and Tasynthia Grant, all of Montgomery; brothers, Karlen McCree, Jr., Karlen A. McCree, and Keshawn McCree, all of Montgomery; aunts, Margaret Jackson, MaryAnn Crittenden, and Carolyn Patterson, all of Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, team members, and students.

I remember Monreko as a kid who was very caring and a gentle giant. I'm just learning of his passing and it really grieves me to my heart. My condolences to Yvonne and Shatara as they are the relatives I knew.

Man! My first roommate in the D (Sewell Hall). I still remember the first words you ever said to me, "I call the bottom bunk" lol! You always kept me laughing. I could speak forever about how great of a person you were. I know God has a plan and needed to bring you home now, and I'm looking forward to seeing you again in heaven. Oh, and if just so happens we have to be roommates in heaven, I'm calling it now, "I GOT THE BOTTOM BUNK!!! Lol!! I love you brother!!!!!!

When this mortal life is over the difference a person made in the lives of others live on. My son's life is a testimony because of the difference Monreko made in his life and because of the conversations they shared. Coach Chubbs gave him words of encouragement when things seemed impossible. Chubbs was an extraordinary man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Heaven has gained an angel. Mrs. Crittenden I pray you find peace in the days to come.

Monreko...Monreko..wow! I'm still saddened by the news. Only God knows best. He only let us borrow you for a while. You were a blessing to me during my toughest times at Auburn.
