Thank you all for your kind words about my dad. I cannot express how much I loved my dad. He was my best friend. He was always there for me my whole life. Although my dad was not perfect and had his faults (who doesn't) he never let me down. My dad was kind, gentle, patient, helpful, loving and very encouraging to me. He never failed to lend a hear during my times of confusion and uncertainty. He was a voice of reason, teaching and solutions always positive. My father never ever said a bad word about anyone or never complained about any situation. I have many, many stories about my dad. He was a wonderful father. God c ould not have given me a better dad. I will and do miss him very very much. But God has been so faithful to me because how dad dealt
with me, God used the least likely person in my life to show me who he is. Kind loving gentle patient encouraging and helpful. Thank you Lord for my father.
I promise dad I will always do as you always instructed. "Do what you think is right, then go do it".
I LOVE YOU MY DADDY. See you across that river soon. Have a good fishing hole for us so we can catch those big coppernose bream. I love you......

It was a pleasure to see Corky at our class reunions. I will never forget the first one he came to. He would get in each person's face and say, "I can't believe that is really you." It was so good to see him each time. He made our get togethers special. He will be missed. Prayers go out to his family.

Corky Briggs. What can you say about him? I was one of his Junior High and High School classmates and friends. He always had a smile and something pleasant to say to me & to all. When we have had our class reunions, Corky was there, usually in his "Bermuda" shorts and had such a good time. There will be an empty spot at future ones. Miss you Corky! Thoughts & Prayers with your family.

There was only one Corky Briggs. He was just an exceptional man with a uniquely wonderful personality. I had the privilege of attending school with Corky in grade school, junior high, and high school.

We played baseball together in grade school and football together in junior high and high schools. This closeness produced a bond that could never be broken.

In the past few years I have had the privilege of seeing Corky quite often at the local Prattville watering hole.

I remember two incidents that happened there very vividly. In the first one, I was telling Corky about an incident that happened in grade school where the class was walking back from the lunch room to the main building classrooms. I told him that I and another guy hand been talking about playing hooky and what it would be like, so; we decided to take a detour and climb a big Chinaberry Tree just behind the auditorium. We sat up there for a while and finally we saw people on the ground calling our names and trying to find us. We decided to climb down and needless to say they were not to happy with us when we hit the ground. At that point, Corky started laughing and said; "Hey Boggs, I was the other guy and I could never remember that the other guy was you."

In the second incident I recently went into the Pub and saw Corky at the bar. I walked around to him, threw my arm around his neck; pulled him close to me and whispered into his ear "Corky, I love you and always will." He responded "Boggs I love you too and feel just like you do."

I would not swap all the money owed on the NATIONAL DEBT for being able to know "CORKY" and all the others we had the honor, privilege and just plain good fortune of going to school with. Not to mention, we were so blessed to grow up in the 1940's, 50,s and 60,s. They had to be the best times there ever were.

Corky is physically gone, but; HE WILL NEVER LEAVE OUR MEMORY. God bless you Corky. We all love you.

May God bless and comfort all the family Corky leaves behind.

Your lifelong friend,
Wayne Boggs

So sorry to hear about Corky. I have seen him around socially for the past few years since Joe died in 2006. We would catch up on our latest family news and always Corky would talk about the friendship he and Joe shared. I will miss that time with him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family now and the days to come.

Goodbye to an old friend he will be greatly missed. I have great memories of this old boy & all the mischief we used to get into. I remember being best man at his wedding, and many other ventures that we shared through out life. He was very close to my mother, and until she died he sent her roses every mothers day. I for one will miss old Corky very much. Maurice Ballard Kenner, La

I grew up with Corky just up the street. Lots of good memories. My sympathy to all his family.

March 25, 2013

I used to walk by Corky's house every day on my way home to and from lunch when I was in high school and would see him lots of times after school in the yard. The last time I saw him was at our 50th class reunion and like always he stood out in the crowd and was having more fun than most. We will miss him!

Corky was on of my favorite uncles. We grew up together, he taught me a lot. He did some crazy things, but always ready to work for a living and my hat is off to him. I will miss him and I wish the best for the rest of the family.
May God bless him.
