He served local schools as a swimming official for more than fifty years and is a member of the Pennsylvania Swimming Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Macionis was vice president of sales for Shearer's Dairies and also for Chestnut Hill Dairy. He served as a director of Philadelphia's Metropolitan Hospital. Over many years, he mentored dozens of young men in athletics and preparing them for college. I am so sorry to learn of John's passing. As a high school teammate of his boys, John and Rob, Mr. Macionis was a great man to look up to, respect and admire. He was a charter member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame and was a fixture at ISHOF during his retirement years, buying a condo directly across the street. We've lost a great man a great friend who loved swimming.
