Joseph Washko Obituary

Joseph E. Washko 71, of Maple Glen died suddenly Tuesday morning, January 25, 2011 at Abington Memorial Hospital. Born in Kingston, PA on January 31, 1939 to Joseph and Helen Dubiel Washko, he was a graduate of Edwardsville High School and received a B.S. in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University. He formed and was President of Micromation Sciences Corporation, an information processing and technology company based in Philadelphia. The company, over time, grew significantly under his leadership. After retiring from the company, he embarked on a second career that combined his love of travelling with his outgoing personality, leading educational and destination tours primarily in Washington, DC and New England. It was during the three years he spent in the U.S. Army in Darmstadt, Germany that he developed a love of travelling. Joseph was a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather who, more than anything else, enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid golfer, ardent reader and happy traveler who looked forward to taking annual vacations with his wife and children. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Marcia, two children Mark Washko and wife Caroline, Rockville, MD and Lynne Triantos and husband Wayne, Vineland, NJ; five grandchildren James, Mary and Grace Washko and Connor and Amelia Triantos; and brother Ronald Washko and wife Paula of Bryn Mawr. A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, January 31, 2011 at St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's honor to Ancillae-Assumpta Acad., 2025 Church Rd., Wyncote, PA 19095.

Dear Washko Family,
Please excuse my late entry, I just heard about Joe's death. I used to play golf with Joe at MGCC until I left in 2002. Joe was a lot of fun to be with and a great competitor. We had a lot of laughs at MGCC. I'm sure Joe is smiling down on all of us as he enjoys playing a divine nine in heaven. He is in my prayers.

sending love and prayers at this time and always, I'm so stunned and saddened at this loss. know you are all loved so much, and I wish I could be there at a time like this. Joe and all of you reside in my fondest memories of holidays & family occasions over the years. Please stay in touch. I can't help but think how mom, Aunt Margaret, Uncle Joe and all the Washko's must be together , all sitting around a huge table, laughing, playing cards, eating, giving each other a hard time, and watching over us, and I know Joe is there too. I will miss him so much. love you all. Mary Beth
