Richard Manhart Obituary

Richard Manhart
December 22, 1934 - April 13, 2025
Richard Manhart passed away peacefully surrounded by immediate family on April 13. He was born to Lewis and Villa Manhart in Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Bowling Green State University and doctoral degree in medicine from The Ohio State University. After internship and residency in anesthesia his first position was in an army hospital in Germany. Upon return he spent a short time in academic medicine at Marquette Medical School and in following years with Madison Anesthesia and with Montrose Anesthesia. When not providing care to patients he was an avid outdoorsman, a skilled woodworker, an exacting golfer, and an intrepid traveler. After retirement, he spent 25 years volunteering with the Commemorative Air Force to maintain and keep World War II airplanes flying. He embraced and actively supported his community, serving as president of Madison Anesthesia, and as a board member for Rotary, the Montrose Community Foundation, and the Montrose Academic Booster Club. Dick's greatest love was spending time with his family, sharing outdoor adventures and time together. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; sister, Jeanne (Frank Lewis); his children Lisa, (Bill Fleming), Susie, Steve; and his grandchildren, Abigail, Alexander (Leigh Anna), Zane, Trevor, and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lauren and Harold; and sister Margaret.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025,10 a.m., at Church on the Hill in Montrose. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's name can be made to the Commemorative Air Force, Airbase Arizona (https://www.azcaf.org/) or to a charity of your choice.
