Sadie Marie Vialpando, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Montrose, CO, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 27, 1930, in La Junta, CO, Sadie was the daughter of Margarito and Matilda Salazar. She married Joe Toby Vialpando in Fowler, CO, on July 24, 1944. Their union was one of deep love and devotion, lasting for 56 years until Joe's passing.
Sadie and Joe made their home in Pueblo, CO, where they raised their children. The family briefly lived in Denver before settling in Frederick, where they spent five years. In 1969, they moved to Santa Rosa, CA, before returning to Colorado and finally settling in Montrose.
Throughout her life, Sadie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She found joy in simple pleasures like fishing, camping, and spending time at the casino. She was known for her warm heart, her infectious laughter, and her love for singing and dancing. Sadie was also a wonderful cook, always ensuring that no one left her home without something to eat and a smile on their face.
She is survived by her six children, Dorothy (Darrin) Thaut, Rose (Frank) Tripp, Alice (Carl) Gonzales, Geraldine (Bryan) Poland, Margarito (Dina) Vialpando, and Rosella (Ricardo) Cadena; as well as her 131 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends who were blessed to be part of her life.
Sadie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Toby Vialpando; her sons, Toby, Joe Ernie, and Daniel; her daughters, Lorrine, Martha, Guadalupe, and Alice; and several grandchildren.
A memorial service in Sadie's honor will be held at Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main Street on Friday March, 14, 2025. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the service at 10 a.m., with a graveside service to follow at Valley of the Lawns Cemetery.
Following the services, the family invites all friends and loved ones to gather at The Temple, located at 511 E. Main Street, to share in remembrance and fellowship.
