Andrew Caplis Obituary

Andrew Caplis MOORESVILLE Andrew J. Caplis, 84, of Mooresville, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 after a long illness at the Serenity House Care Home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Andy retired from Texaco, Inc. after 30 years of service in 1983. Andy served in WWII as a Merchant Marine and was honorably discharged on the 6th day of November 1946. Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Matt; his sister, Clare; son, Daniel; and loving companion, "Eddy", his dog. Andy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; son, John (Renee) Caplis, and grandchildren, Sinead and Josie; son Michael (Mary Lou) Caplis and grandchildren, Ryan and Kiley; sister, Mae McComiskey; mother-in-law, Kathleen Sullivan; and many relatives and friends. Private services were held by the family. A Christian Mass celebrating Andy's life will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church Friday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m., 217 Brawley School Rd., Mooresville, NC 28117. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Burial with Military honors will follow at 12 noon in Salisbury National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy's memory to The Serenity House would be appreciated, Carolina Comfort Coalition at Serenity House, 110 Centre Church Rd., Mooresville, NC 28117. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, is serving the Caplis family. Condolences may be made to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
