John Edward Staiger

John Edward Staiger, 88, of Mooresville, N.C., formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at home in the loving support of his family. Born on April 10, 1935 he was the son of the late Harry and Sabina Cuniff Staiger.

He was retired from PMA as the manager of the insurance auditing department and had attended Central Catholic High School and University of Pittsburgh, where he was an officer of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served proudly in the Army of the United States and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Beloved husband of Regina Ekiert Staiger for 64 years; loving father to Jennifer Kolesar (Paul) of Mooresville, N.C., and Claudine Record (Edward) of Dallas, Texas; devoted grandfather of six, Justin, Sean, Gabrielle, Samantha, Evan, and Colin; oldest brother of Carl Staiger (Kathleen) of Pittsburgh, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Staiger Orsini and brother, Harry Staiger; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, June 23, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E. Plaza Dr, Mooresville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 217 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC. In lieu of flowers, mass donations can be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, Mooresville, N.C., or the Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 1325 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC 28115.
