Ronnie Craven Obituary

Ronnie Carroll Craven CONCORD Ronnie Carroll Craven, 70, of Concord, passed away, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Northeast Medical Center, Concord. Born, Oct. 7, 1942, in Mooresville, he was a son of the late William Foy and Ruth Greenhill Craven. Ron was a 1964 graduate, of North Carolina State University. He was an avid fan of his alma mater. Ron was a construction superintendent. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. Ron was always very active, and very supportive of his children, and granchildren's many activities. He loved a good debate more than anyone. Ron enjoyed hunting, and the outdoors. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Concord. Ron is survived by his wife, Donna Poston Craven, whom he married June 5, 1965; children, Leah Craven Donaldson and husband, Charles (Winky) Donaldson, Jeffrey Scott Craven, and Kathey Watson and Angela Craven Newsome and husband, Watty Newsome; grandchildren, Chadwyck Lynn Newsome, Gabrielle Hunter Craven, Kendele Leiann Donaldson, Braxton Wylie Newsome, Riley Catherine Craven, and Lani Breiann Donaldson; step-grand-children, Nikki and Zak Overall; and sister, Betty Jean Craven Lipe and husband, Bobby Lipe. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Revs. Daniel H. Wilson, Charles Gibbons, and A. M. Stevens II, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends immediately following the committal service in the church fellowship hall from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 S. Church St., Suite 303, Charlotte, NC 28202. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mr. Craven. Condolences may be made to the Craven family at cavin-cook.com.
