Billy Hamby Obituary
November 1, 1953 - October 31, 2021
Billy Ray Hamby Sr., 67, of Morganton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at Frye Regional Medical Center, following a period of declining health.
Mr. Hamby was born Nov. 1, 1953, in Caldwell County, to the late Jessie Willard Hamby and Dorothy Mae Kirby Hamby.
Billy was the owner at Hamby's Service Center.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Tensley Hamby of the home; his daughter, Tina H. Deal; his sons, Billy Ray Hamby Jr. (Brandy) and David Anthony Hamby (Lida); grandsons, Brian Deal (Brandi), Derek Deal (Kayla), Damon Hamby (Angelica), Austin Hamby (Peyton), David Hamby Jr., and Elijah Hamby; granddaughters, Bryanah Hamby, Alexis Lunsford, Mikayla Taylor, and Zoey Hamby; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Sheila Felux, Linda Wood, Dorothy Ward, and Cathy Hyde; and a brother, Vann Elrod.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Burkhimer officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Mountain Grove Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Grove Baptist Church, 2485 Connelly Springs Rd., Granite Falls, NC 28630.

Janice we are so very sorry we just found out about Billy passing away our hearts are broken we would have been there to pay our respects and sent flowers,we loved him like our own family.we will always remember how he was always happy had a smile on his face and so very kind he would always do his best to help us.he was a true friend and a great mechanic he will be greatly missed! we love you praying for peace comfort and strength to you and your family please let us know if there's anything we can do for you we love you Janice.

We send our love and condolences to you all. Some of my most special memories of Billy were the times I needed a "dad" to rescue me. Anytime I had a problem on the road, ran out of gas, locked myself out of my car, or anything.....Billy was there immediately. (My own dad died in '91) I love him and will miss him so much. Thank you for sharing him with me.
