Charles Robinson Obituary

Charles Herman Robinson, 84, of Harris Drive, Morganton, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at his residence. Born in Yancey County on March 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Willard Roy Robinson and Molly Elizabeth McNeil Robinson. Charles was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Burke Dairy. He is survived by his son, Charles Robinson of Morganton; a daughter, Elaine Poole and husband, Nelson, of Morganton; sisters, Emma Draughn of Valdese, Joyce Powers of Celo, N.C., and Loretta Zuschlag of Jefferson, Ga.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Robin Poole of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Cagle Robinson; brothers, Paul and Billy Robinson; and sisters, Lillie Greenlee, Georgia Hinnat and Wilma Gouge. The funeral will be held at noon today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Herm was a truly good man. I always enjoyed talking with him at Quaker Meadows Golf Course when I was in business with his son Charles. He was so easygoing and I learned a lot about life from him. I know he rests in peace now with Irene. He left behind a great family. May God bless each one of you.

CHARLES WAS A WONDEFUL AND KIND MAN, AND I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING WITH HIM AT BROUGHTON HOSPITAL FOR SEVERAL YEARS, THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.
