Elizabeth Quay Miller Peck

December 1, 1943 - July 21, 2024

Elizabeth Quay Miller Peck, 80, of Morganton, NC, died Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Born in Montgomery, AL on December 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Harry Plummer Miller and Sara Elizabeth Stranahan Miller. Elizabeth grew up in Mercer, PA and was a 1961 graduate of Mercer Consolidated High School. She was a 1965 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, OH and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Elizabeth taught English at Parma City Schools from 1965 to 1969, where she met her future husband, Dick Peck. They lived in Chapel Hill, NC from 1969 to 1972 while Dick was in graduate school. The Pecks moved to Morganton in 1972 and Elizabeth went on to teach at Western Piedmont Community College for 25 years. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a member and past president of the Morganton Service League.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Allan Peck, Ph.D.; daughter, Amanda Miller Peck; brothers, Joseph M. Miller (Sally) and Jeffery S. Miller (Carroll Ann); sister, Margaret C. Miller; brothers-in-law, William C. Peck (Jackie) and James S. Peck (Patricia); many nieces and nephews; and granddogs, Duke and Duchess.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Adam Bowling and Rev. Lyndsay Beaulieu officiating. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall from 2 to 3 p.m. following the service. The cryptside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Ridge Endowment Fund or the East Burke High School Principal's Discretionary Fund.
