Frank Rector Obituary

Frank Rector MORGANTON Frank Edward Rector, 83, of Morganton, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Grace Heights. Born in Burke County, March 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Lew Rector and Cora Robinson Rector. Frank was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Great Lakes Carbon Corp. with 47 years of service. Frank loved to travel and camp. Mr. Rector is survived by his sons, Stanley Rector and wife, Carolyn, of Morganton and Sherman Rector and wife, Linda, of Connelly Springs; daughters, Sherry Prewitt and husband, Dennis, Terry Cline and husband, Kevin and Patricia Johnson and husband, Keith, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Marcia Whitehead and husband, Markeith, Stacy Berry, Joshua Guffey, Brianna Johnson, Jason Norville, Damien Clark, Ashley Johnson, Michelle Smith and husband, Lucian, Michael Thomas and Jeff Thomas; 11 great-grand-children; siblings, Thelma Presnell, of Marion, Stanley Rector and wife, Joyce, of Morganton, Pat Vess and husband, Claude, of Burnsville, Lorene Craddock and husband, Bill, of Salisbury and Frances McMahan and husband, Mike, of Burnsville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Whetstine Rector. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. today (Sunday, April 7), at Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Emory officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements. Condolences may be made online at www. sossomanfuneralservice. com.
