James Glazebrooks Obituary

James Albert Glazebrooks, 85, of Granite Falls, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Glazebrooks was born in Valdese to the late James Berry Glazebrooks and Emmer Lee Deal Glazebrooks. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during World War II and a retired machinist with Forest City Tool. He was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church where he was an active member of the Living Word Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Margie Hollar Glazebrooks of the home; a son David Bigelow and wife, Beverly, of Hudson; daughters, Diane Whelton and husband, John, of Granite Falls, Lori Story and fiance, Craig, Greenlaw of Conover and Linda Hastey and husband, Charlie, of Connecticut; brothers, David, Ralph, Donald and Junior Glazebrooks, all of Valdese; sisters, Floye Andrews, Effie Icard, Geneva Hildebran, all of Valdese and Alice Ledford of Bakersville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Travis Story, Kasey Whelton, Drake Story, Jacob Bigelow, Mary Bigelow, Savannah Hastey and Elijah Hastey. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mt. Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Audley Frazier and Brenda Brashear officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Story, Drake Story, Jacob Bigelow, Hunter Dellinger, Junior Glazebrooks and John Whelton. The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
