John Davis Obituary

Mr. John Robert "Bob" Davis, 79, of Morganton, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at his residence after a period of declining health.
Mr. Davis was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Burke County, to the late Zeb Carter and Bertie Herron Davis.
He was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church and retired from Drexel Heritage after more than 33 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Brendle Davis of the home; one son, Robert Steven Davis of Morganton; one brother, Roy C. Davis of Morganton; one sister, Mildred Gantt of Morganton; his grandchildren, Stephanie Cook and Allison Warlick; and his great-grandchildren, Tasha Helton, Brittany Warlick, Elijah Cook and Isaiah Cook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey Davis; and two brothers, George and Vernon Desmond Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with the Rev. Bob Devinney officiating.
Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
Memorials may be made to the youth group of the church of choice or Burke United Christian Ministries, 305 W. Union St., Morganton, NC 28655.
