William Randolph "Randy" Loftis, Jr.

William Randolph "Randy" Loftis Jr., 76, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
He was born on June 24, 1947, to William Randolph Loftis Sr. and Elisabeth Futrell Loftis in Hickory, NC. Randy was raised in Morganton, North Carolina, and attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree at Wofford College and later obtained his J.D. from Wake Forest, where he graduated at the top of his class.
A practicing attorney of 52 years, his notable career started in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at Petree, Stockton, Robinson, Glaze & Maready (now Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP), where he practiced from 1971-91 and started the firm's labor and employment practice, serving as chair of the NCBA Labor & Employment Law Section in 1989-90. Randy joined Constangy, Brooks, and Smith (now Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP) in 1991 where he was a managing partner until his retirement in 2021. In 2013 he was named the Top Employment Lawyer in North Carolina by "Business North Carolina."
Randy was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He spent the majority of his weekends with friends and family at "The Farm", a much-loved property in Glen Alpine, North Carolina, obtained by his father in 1958. Randy is survived by his children William Randolph Loftis III, Allison Loftis Lane (Randy), Elizabeth "Eli" Lang Brown (John), Dana Lang Stallings (James); grandchildren, Sean Loftis, William "Liam" Loftis, Quinn Stallings, Georgia Stallings, John Parker Brown, and Mason Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved late wife Lea Horne Loftis.
The family will receive friends at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Piner Hall located at Arbor Acres Retirement Community.
