Carol Hackney

Carol Hackney (nee Messenger), 82, of Avon, died Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was born June 11, 1940 in Lorain, Ohio and has lived in Avon for over 55 years, coming from Lorain. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1958. She had many hobbies which included Genealogy, crocheting, knitting, and ceramics. She loved animals and enjoyed attending her church services and fellowship.She is survived by her children: Amy (Lonnie) Hanchosky, Leah Vanthoor, Paula (Thomas Wem) Hackney; grandchildren: Brittney Woulf, Mandy Vanthoor, and Bonnie Oswalt; eight great grandchildren; and her brother, Jene Messenger.She was preceded in death by husband, Manuel Hackney; granddaughter, Cortney Hackney; and sisters: Ruth and Betty.Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6-9 p.m. at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon. Services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church, 36465 Chester Rd., Avon. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio.
