David Rieth Obituary

He was born in Lorain, Ohio on October 4, 1950, son of the late William Rieth and Eleanor Rieth. Dave attended Miami University and was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Italian American Veterans Post #1, where he was also employed the last several years. An avid participant and spectator of sports, his favorite summer days were spent on the golf course. The rest of the year found him glued to the television cheering on his favorite sports teams, usually with his adored furry companions, Stewart and Parfait, at his side. An avid reader with a penchant for trivia and crossword puzzles, Dave was a man of few words with a very dry sense of humor, but a good heart. If you spent more than 15 minutes with him, you likely heard “it is what it is,” which was his favorite expression.Dave is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (nee Mitchell) and Nancy’s children: Audra DiLuciano and William Tippie; stepmother, Toby Rieth; sisters: Lauren Rieth and Virginia Tillotson; brothers: John Rieth and Ronald Rieth; and cousins: Mark, Marci, and Marilyn Tressel.A private celebration of life will be held with close family. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to The Valor Home of Lorain County.
