KNEW OF HIM ALONG TIME AGO AFTER HE PASSED ON THE FLOWER SHOP CLOSED UP

He was a nice person, one of the nicest around. When I was little, I once asked for a blue carnation, and he gave me a white carnation spray-painted blue. When my mother was little, Mr Kalo would put flowers in her hair. I don't understand this: why do the good ones have to die?

Mr. Kalo provided my mom, Eve Fox and her sister, Goldie Mahilo, with palm leaves for the hundreds of palm crosses they made for area churches at Easter. After each of them died, I stopped by to tell Frank and was touched by what a deep feeling gentle man he was. It's no wonder he had so many life long friends.

I just heard of Frank's passing a few minutes ago. I am truly sorry I was not able to be there for his funeral. In spite of not being related, Frank was still like family to me. He is one of the greatest people I have ever known and will miss him dearly. God bless you Frank. I am very blessed to have known you.

My mother, Julia Farkas Kostyn, heard of Frank's passing and asked that I send her (and our) condolences to the Kalo Family. She has many fond memories and whenever we were in town we stopped to purchase flowers for my father's grave (Gilbert Kostyn).
God Bless and prayers, Julia Kostyn,

We were saddened to learn of "Uncle" Frank's passing. He wasn't a relative but a close family friend and godfather to my brother. I always enjoyed stopping by his store whenever we had a few minutes or later, when we moved, when we were in town. He will be dearly missed. Our condolences to his loved ones. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord...and let perpetual light shine upon him. Peace be with you all ~

Dear families of Frank Kalo:
I knew Frank for many, many years. My parents (Dave & Margaret Czapp) were friends throughout many years. I will miss going to his little flower shop and I will miss his hugs. He never once didn't hug me when I visited his shop, even when he was very busy. Sleep peacefully, Frank, as you deserve this respite. Dear families, please take one day at a time and the Lord will be with you always. Love, Lillian Hawkins

Frank Kalo truly had a good heart. He was a friend to many and performed countless good deeds and gestures as well.
Many times he did things quietly, looking for no recognition.
He was always kind to my family and never forgot Maggie.

I worked for Frank when I was a skinny little kid of 10 or 11 years old in the late 1950s. He was always very good to me and a very nice man. I havent lived in Lorain since 1965 but when back there visiting I stopped to see him many times. I am sorry to hear of his passing as he was a very important part of my youth.

Mr. Kalo was a true South Lorain gentleman. So kind. I live in Los Angeles, and would always call him for flowers for people back home. He would just say- mail a check- people out here were shocked- I told them, that's how we were raised- with -honor-he was always a kind and gentle person- May his memory be eternal . May the family take comfort in knowing how many people were touched by his kindness.

Mr. Kalo was a kind and wonderful man. He loved his business and blessed so many people with his talent. He gave me my first job at 16 and was a kind and patient teacher. I am a Clearview graduate and he was so much a part of that area. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
My sympathies to the family.
God's peace Mr. Kalo. It was a blessing to know you. Linda

Frank's family meant so much to him and he was always there to share the beautiful memories he had of each and every one of us. I will miss our little visits at the flower shop where you could never leave there without Frank handing out a little flower to take home. I am not home at this time or I would be there to be with the family at this very sad time.
