Gerald Mitter Obituary

Gerald B. "Jerry" Mitter, 91 a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Jerry was born April 15, 1926, in Newbury, West Virginia, to the late John L. and Effie E. (nee Larew) Mitter.
He served in the United States Army from 1946-1947. Jerry worked as a beautician for over 60 years. For several years he owned and operated Jerry's Townhouse and Beauty Salon, which was on the east side of Lorain. He loved taking care of his yard and flower gardening. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wildon and Terry Mitter of Kansas; daughter Edna Mitter of Lorain; four grandchildren, Shelby (William) Lane of Lorain, Jeremy (Ceara) Mitter of Lorain, Duane Rundell of Kentucky, Samantha Wilson of Lorain; two great grandchildren, Skylar Frederick and Celeste Meyers; a brother, Hank Mitter of West Virginia; and his sister Marcina Plum of West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth A. (nee Fowler) (2012); and sisters and brothers.
Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. There will be an 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday at the funeral home with burial following in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

Gerald was a family friend of my parents. Pat and Mary Patterson. Gerald and his wife. We called her Tib were great people and friends to all of us. I visited him every year up to his death. Losing family and friends is hard. God Bless his family. Stay close Wildon and Sis. You don't know when your last day on earth is. My whole family is gone. GOD BLESS YOU ALL !!!
