Joseph Kampfer Obituary
SHEFFIELD LAKE - Joseph W. Kampfer, Sr., 80 a long time resident of Sheffield Lake passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Mercy Regional Hospital in Lorain after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 30, 1933 in Elkton, OH. Joseph was an US Air Force Veteran serving in Korea from 1951-1955. He was employed in the automotive industry for the Ford Plant in Avon Lake for 36 years where he retired in 2004. Joseph was a member of UAW Local 2000-Avon Lake and in his spare time he enjoyed working on cars, motorcycles and lawn mowers.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet (nee Woodburn); children Cheryl (Dominick) Tardio of Lorain, Patricia (Michael) Basso of Sheffield Lake, Joseph Kampfer Jr. of Lorain, James (Kathy) Kampfer of Sheffield Lake, Donald Kampfer of Sheffield Lake, Michael (Deborah) Kampfer of Lorain; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Lois (Charles) Dickey of Lisbon, OH and Cora (John) Oana of Salem, OH; step-brother John (Shirley) Clark of Summitville, OH. He is preceded in death by his brothers James and Paul Kampfer and his parents, Erwin and Anna (nee Armstrong).
At the request of the family, private service will be held at a later date. Inurnment at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Diabetes Association, P.O.
