Ralph D. Mellen

Ralph D. Mellen, age 88 and a life resident of Amherst, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 20, 2022.Ralph was born in Lorain, July 11, 1934 to the late Howard B. and Fern E. (nee Meister) Mellen. He was a graduate of the former Central School of Amherst. Ralph served in the United States Army during the 1950s and was a cook for the troops. Ralph was retired from Nordson Corporation, Amherst where he worked as foreman for over 35 years. Throughout his life Ralph enjoyed wood carving and made many carvings of animals and decorative items.Survivors include his sister-in-laws Beverly Mellen of Amherst and Charlene Mellen of Lorain, many nieces,nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his siblings; Gordon, Kenneth, Burro, and Carolyn Kwiatkowski.Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst.
