Richard Byers Obituary
AVON - Richard "Dick" Byers, 77, of Avon Lake, passed away Friday July 8, 2011 at St. John West Shore Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Sandusky and was a life long residence of Ohio. He worked as an equipment operator and enjoyed Gardening, playing cards, logic puzzels, computers, and making wine for which he won a Blue ribbon with at the Lorain County Fair. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years Doris Byers (nee Novothny) son; Bob Byers of Avon, daughter; Janet (Scott) Neptune of Spencer, sister Nancy Delong.
He was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Ruth Byers, brother; James Byers.
At his request there will be no services.
Contributions may be made in Dicks name to your local animal shelter.
Arrangements are being handled by Wyers Funeral Chapel of Sheffield Township.

I am so sorry to hear that Dick died. He was such an amazing uncle to my children after their father died, as well as a good friend to me, his brother’s wife. Thank you Doris, for allowing your husband to be there for us. I can never thank either of you enough for allowing my children to be part of their father’s family, how important it was for them to have aunts, uncles and cousins. You know that Jay would have done the same if Dick had been tragically and suddenly taken from his children when they were young. That’s what families are about. Again, my condolences to you and Bobby and Janet.
