Ruth G. Piwinski

1929 - 2023

Ruth G. Piwinski, age 93, of Oberlin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Ruth was born in Oberlin, OH on May 23, 1929, and was the youngest child of Henry and Lottie (nee: Parsons) Sandrock. She was a 1948 graduate of Oberlin High School and shortly after married her sweetheart, Stanley T. Piwinski on September 4, 1948. Ruth was more than a house wife, she was an active farm wife whether she was in the field or in the barn. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crafts. She was employed by Lorain County Board of Elections for ten years. She was a member of PERI and Oberlin Grange and the Lorain County Democratic Women's Club. Ruth was a lifelong resident of New Russia Township. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (James) Stevenson of Springfield, Kathleen (Brian) Duplaga of LaGrange; son, John (Lisa) of New Russia Township; grandchildren, Todd (Amanda) Stevenson, Jennifer (Rav) Bissram, Michael (Amy) Piwinski, Jessica (Bryan) Doehr, Amanda (Zach Goebel) Duplaga; great-grandchildren, Garrett Stevenson, Asher Bissram, Ethan Piwinski, Jamie Lynn Doehr, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley, in 2015; sister, Harriet Gregg; brothers, Earl and Richard. Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at The Lodge at New Russia Township 46300 Butternut Ridge Road in Oberlin. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11 AM, at New Russia Township Cemetery Pavillion 12528 Oberlin Road in Oberlin with Pastor Danny Wright officiating.
