Thomas A. Vollmer
AMHERST – Thomas A. Vollmer, age 59 passed away at Amherst Manor Nursing Home Sunday April 6th due to complications from multiple illnesses.
He was born January 19, 1955 in Amherst, Ohio. He graduated from Marion L Steele in 1973. He worked at Nordson, Matt's Meat Market, beer driver and salesman, Hull Builders Supply and B & K Switching.
He was on Amherst Fire Department as a volunteer Fireman for many years.
He enjoyed cooking, boating, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycles. But his favorite hobby was a good party and making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Lucy (Groesbeck), 1 son Cody (Karen Deerhake),
Sisters Sharon Vollmer, Mert (Jim) Lewis, Judy (Tom) Wright and brother George Vollmer Jr. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George Sr in 1980 and Ella (Vargo) in 1985.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Amherst Fire Department or the Townsend Township Fire Department in Huron County, where his son Cody is a volunteer fireman.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Amherst Manor and New Life Hospice.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held Sunday, April 13th from 3-7pm at the Amherst VFW.

I have fond memories of Tom in marching band/ High School and when I ran into him occasionally. I recall always telling Tom he should be a comedian or comedy writer. Heaven is that much sweeter now. May his spirit live on in the memories and laughter. Condolences to the family.

Tommy was a wonderful person and the Life of the Party!! I have many fond memories with the Class of '73. No one can fill his shoes. My deepest sympathy & prayers go out to the Vollmer family. Rest in Peace.
