Timothy Springer Obituary

Timothy Springer LORAIN — Timothy Springer, 98, of Lorain, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2013 at the Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain. He was born in Heflin, Alabama on April 1, 1915 and moved to the Lorain area in 1949. He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church of Lorain since 1959 and served as a church trustee. He was also a life member of the NAACP-Lorain Branch and a member of USW-Local 1104. He was employed at US Steel for 30 years and retired in 1980. Timothy was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and his favorite pastime was playing baseball and bowling. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 63 years, Annie M. Springer; son, Timothy Springer Jr. of Marion NC; daughter, Della Crawford of San Francisco CA; sisters, Ruth Johnson and Jewel Johnson, both of Mobile AL, and Minnie Brock of Cincinnati OH; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Elder W. Neal of Dothan AL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Fannie Springer; brothers, Titus, Moses, Joseph and Booker; sisters, Nellie Lumpkin, Rose Anna Neal, Alberta, Frances, Anna Bell, Isabelle and Zella. Visitation will be held Friday June 21, 2013 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 300 W 13th St., Lorain. Rev. Loversier Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. Professional services entrusted to Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave., Lorain OH 44052.

I always had the utmost respect for Mr. Springer. He was a true example for us young males growing up at Second Baptist Church in Lorain, Ohio. He helped lay a positive foundation for us young men. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Springer family.
