Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Robertson Family know that we recently made a small donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation in honor of US Army Sergeant 1st Class Forrest W. Robertson. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I was Rob's Platoon Sergeant on Johnston Atoll and he was a hard working young man. He was a top notched soldier and I am proud to say that I had the privilege to serve with him. May God grant you peace during this difficult time and may your hearts be healed.

This young man loss his life doing something that he whole heartly believed in. Psalms 46:9
He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth.
The bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces;
The wagons he burns in the fire.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Forrest will never be forgotten.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .
I Salute You.

Even though I have not met your family, I feel as if I know you. As a native Kansas and a graduate of Pittsburg State and the father of another SFC in the U.S. Army who has served in many of the same places as Forrest (Ft. Stewart,Ft. Carson, Iraq twice and Afghanistan twice0 i feel a closeness to this family that is hard to describe. I have been through the fear you have experience and by the grace of God,I did not get the "knock on the door". I will be praying for Forrest and his family that the pain of losing your loved one becomes bearable over time and that you live with the knowledge that Forrest and men like him are a special type of hero. It is not easy to lose these special men and women but our World is better off having had them in it if even for a short time. I send my love and condolences.

Tears speak volumes, but words are not enough. Yet, God's love is. May the life Forrest lived resonate in our hearts as a reminder of who we can be. Even as a young man, Forrest knew how to stand up for what was right with integrity and courage. Every year I tell my students about him - and his willingness to step up to the plate and make things right.

Death is nothing at all - I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name; speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Laugh as we always laughed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before - only better; infinitely happier and forever - we will all be one together with Christ. -Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918)

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
Abraham Lincoln.
Thank you Sergeant Robertson

It is so hard to see a young warrior go down in battle. He was doing what he wanted to do, that is all we can say. He will be missed by so many and especially you Marcie and your girls. Just wish I could wave a magic wand and make all things better. A mother's heart has been torn too. Although you all have great memories, it will be sometime before your hearts lose their heaviness. Constantly in my prayers. My family connections go way back to Frosty's step grandpa and his wife and grandmother of Frosty Judy.
