Johnny McNamara Obituary

Johnny J (Big John) McNamara, age 56 of Frontenac, KS, passed away Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016, at his home after a short battle with cancer.

Born December 15, 1959 in Anchorage, Alaska to Joseph and Bernadean McNamara, John lived in several states before his family re-homed in Kansas.

On February 1, 1985, he married Lisa Mallory at the Baptist Temple in Pittsburg. She survives at the home.

John was a press operator for The Morning Sun for 33 years before retiring in 2015.

John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping. His recent pastimes were his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother Bernadean "RaeAnn" McNamara, Arma; son Mark McNamara & Megan Collins, grandson Kayden McNamara of Wichita; daughter Sara McNamara & Richard Carroll, grandchildren Lilly & Jacob Carroll of Pittsburg; brother Robert McNamara and family of Pittsburg; sister Linda Miller and family of Pittsburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2nd at Cornerstone Church, 405 South Locust, Pittsburg with Pastor Allen Parker and Roger John Rank officiating. His remains will be buried at a private family service at a later date.
