Lorma Mertz Obituary

Lorma Fay Mertz, age 93 of Basehor and previously of Turner, Kansas passed away December 22, 2015.  Visitation will be 10am to Noon, Saturday, Dec. 26th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.  Graveside funeral service will follow at 2:30pm, Saturday at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice.

Lorma was born in Armourdale, Kansas to Albert "Skeeter" and Myrtle Reese on February 7, 1922.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wayne and Bob Reese; three sisters, Mary Brandt, Doris Lawson and Valda Reardon; her husband of 56 years, Arnold W. Mertz, grandchildren Cheryl Williams and great grandson Matt Mertz.  Survivors include her five sons, Leo A., Robert W. (Patricia), Gene W. (Elizabeth), Edward A., Daniel V. (Sheila) and one daughter, Janice M.; sixteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Crossroads Hospice for their support in her final days.

So sorry for your loss. Aunt Lorma was a special person. She always had a smile on her face and made you feel right at home when she would have all her nieces and nephews at her home. It made for many happy memories. Love to you all, Margie Roberds
