Margaret J. Langerot

1926 - 2018

Margaret J. Langerot, 91, of Columbus, Kansas, formerly of Scammon, Kansas, died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Langerot was born August 26, 1926 at Scammon, Kansas the daughter of Beryl Eugene and Maude O'Malley Sine. Margaret was a homemaker who lived in Scammon most of her life. She was raised in Scammon and attended Scammon Schools and graduated from Columbus High School. After graduation she went to work for the Army Corps Quartermaster, later the U.S. Army Military Police, then attended nurses training at Mt. Carmel Hospital. She loved to play pinochle, a member of the readers club in Columbus, and go to the casinos. She married Jacob Langerot on October 20, 1947 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon. Mr. Langerot preceded her in death May 31, 1998. She was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon, St. Bridget's Altar Society, and a 50 year member of the Miraculous Medal Association.

Survivors include five sons, Danny Langerot and his wife Paula of Columbus, Gene Langerot and his wife Kathi of Columbus, Rick Langerot and his wife Irene of Mulvane, Steve Langerot of Columbus, and Mike Langerot and his wife Karen of Columbus, six grandchildren, Danny Langerot Jr., Lori Langerot, Bridget Price, Brooke Langerot, Nathan Langerot, and Nicholas Langerot, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandchild Gabrielle Grace Langerot, a sister, Mary Lucille Sine, and four brothers, Harold, Floyd, Bob, and Paul Sine.

Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon, Kansas with Father Jeremy Huser and Father Larry Parker as Co-Celebrants. Burial will be at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Scammon. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary at St. Bridget's Parish Hall. The family suggests memorials to St. Bridget's Restoration Fund, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Columbus, or the Columbus Library for large print books. The family will be at the home of Gene and Kathi Langerot, 1105 West Country Road, Columbus, Kansas. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
