Mary Ellen Hofer

ARMA - Mary Ellen Hofer, 76, of Arma, Kansas, died at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan.
Mrs. Hofer was born Jan. 20, 1938, at Pittsburg, Kan., the daughter of Ervin "Curly" and Martha Mary Jones Hosman. Mary Ellen was a homemaker who was a lifelong resident of Arma. She was raised in Wichita and Pittsburg. She graduated from Arma High School in 1956. She was a secretary at Spencer Chemical and later a bookkeeper for Hofer Electric in Arma. She married Pete J. Hofer Jr. on Sept. 28, 1957, at Arma. Mr. Hofer preceded her in death March 9, 2014. She was a member of the Arma United Methodist Church and the Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include a son, Dan Hofer, of Arma; a brother, Richard Hosman of Arma; five grandchildren, Justin Sumpter, Julie Hofer, Sami Dunlap, Daniel Hofer, and Colton Hofer; and four great grandchildren, Braden, Brynna, Kage, and Kymora. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Debra Cleland.
Mrs. Hofer has been cremated according to her wishes. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kan., with the Rev. Glenn Duderstadt officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Angels Among Us.
