Modestyne Fogliasso Obituary

Modestyne Marie Fogliasso, a lifelong resident of Frontenac, KS passed away on Jan. 7, 2016, at Medicalodge Frontenac. She was 85 years old.

Modestyne was born on May 10, 1930, to John and Margaret (Purgatorio) Cornella, the elder of two children. She graduated from Frontenac High School in 1947 and married Domenic Richard (Dick) Fogliasso on June 16, 1951. Married for 65 years, Dick and Modestyne raised four children: Domenic Richard II (Dick), Stephen John, Lynne Ann, and Mary Margaret. She worked in the Frontenac Schools cafeteria and at Bank of America in Pittsburg before retiring in 1991.

Modestyne was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in Frontenac, participated in the Sacred Heart Altar Society, and brought cheer to Mt. Carmel Hospital (now Via Christi Hospital) as a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. An avid sports fan, she loyally supported the Frontenac Raiders, the Pittsburg State Gorillas, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Modestyne was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband, Domenic (Dick) Fogliasso, and four children: Dick (Chris) Fogliasso, of Frontenac; Steve (Terry) Fogliasso, of Overland Park; Lynne (Calvin) Merando, of Frontenac; and Mary (Jim) Marrello, of Lenexa. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Maria (Stephen) Huggins, of Olathe; Fr. John Fogliasso, of Wichita; Ashley Merando, of Lenexa; Eric Marrello, of Lenexa; Dr. Katie (Steven) Falk, of Kansas City; Adam (Briana) Marrello, of Lenexa; and Tracy Fogliasso, of Overland Park. Modestyne also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Owen Marrello, of Lenexa; Elizabeth Falk, of Kansas City, and Jack Huggins, of Olathe. She is also survived by her brother, John Cornella, who resides in Wichita.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 10th from 12-6 to register condolences. A visitation will be held from 9-10 am at the Sacred Heart Church in Frontenac on Monday, January 11th, where the family will receive friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, concelebrated by her grandson, Fr. John Paul Fogliasso, and Fr. Tom Stroot. Inurnment of the cremains will follow at the Frontenac City Cemetery. Email condolences may be left at www.friskelfuneralhome.com.

What a wonderful woman who truly nurtured and cared for her family! That is quite evident in the lives of her children who are caring, responsible and amazing adults in our communities!
