Donald Pogliano Obituary

Donald Pogliano
Donald William Pogliano, age 87, of Morris, IL passed away on November
16, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Born in Morris, Illinois to the late
John and Vena Pogliano. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Beverly
Todd of Minooka, Illinois.
Don graduated from Morris High School in 1954. He served in the Marine
Reserves and was honorably discharged.
Don was a member of the Local 150 Midwest Operating Engineers as a
crane and heavy equipment operator, but his passion was raising cattle. He
could tell you anything you could possibly want to know about each cow,
calf, and bull that he owned. He bred cattle and knew what bull to breed
with a particular cow to produce a prize calf. When he retired from his union
job, he was able to realize his dream of owning and operating a cattle
ranch. He and Beverly bought 800 acres in Allerton, Iowa, and Seven Pines
Ranch became their beloved home for the next 25 years.
Don was a determined person who achieved a lot in his lifetime. He was a
mover and shaker and knew how to "get things done." He invested in and
developed land throughout his life. In later years, he was involved in local
politics as a precinct captain for Hillary Clinton. He also advocated for the
rights of local ranchers and played a major role in helping stop a corporate
pig farm from being built in his area.
He passed down his determination, work ethic, and a salty sense of humor
to his children and grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed deeply
by all of his family and friends.
Don was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Beverly (Todd) Pogliano and
grandson, Zaccaria Pogliano. Don is survived by daughters Susan (Tom)
Paulson, Christine (Joe) Gottemoller, Angie Pogliano, Laura Pogliano and
a son, Joe (Kit) Pogliano. He is also survived by grandchildren Joe Lee,
Jacob Lee, Adriano Cortez, Karina Cortez, Leah Peat, Sam Paulson,
Margaret Paulson Davis, Elyssa Paulson, Cass Pogliano, and Sofia
Pogliano. Don is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, Noah Lee, Audrey
Lee, Owen Lee, Arianna Butler, Violet Peat, Arthur Peat, Louis Peat, and
Alastair Davis.
Services for Don will be held privately.
