Molly Jean Couch-Newcomb, age 52, of Channahon, Illinois passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice, Joliet, Illinois after a brief battle with liver cancer.

Molly was born January 14, 1965 in North Wilkesboro, NC to Billie Gray and Peggy (Petree) Couch. She grew up in Purlear, NC. She attended Wilkes Community College and lived and worked in the Wilkes County area for many years before moving to Indiana and then onto Illinois. Molly dearly loved her family, friends and golden retriever, Elvis. She spent many happy hours crafting, drawing and cross-stitching gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading; especially the Bible, a daily ritual. Molly possessed a vivacious personality, a steadfast faith, and never knew a stranger. She was always available to help family and friends and even started a business based on helping others called "Your Gofer-Gal". She compassionately supported many worthy causes, such as the Paralyzed Veterans of America, World Wildlife, and ASPCA. Following her death, friends commented that "She was an incredible person who positively affected everyone she met;" and "Molly's compassion won her the love of many."

Survivors include her husband, John Newcomb of the home; stepdaughter, Emily Newcomb of West St. Paul, MN; her two brothers, Matt Couch (Sandra) of Hilton Head Island, SC and Todd Couch (Lisa) of Noblesville, IN; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, April Couch.

A memorial service will be held in Wilkesboro, NC at a future date.
