On June 25, 2021, heaven gained a wonderful man as Chris E. Adkins, age 63 went to his eternal home after a long illness with lung cancer.
He was born in Mt. Gilead on June 3, 1958, to the late Herbert "Wes" Adkins and Joan (Totten) Adkins of Marengo. Chris was a 1976 graduate of Highland High School, where he was active in FFA. After graduating he and his brother Mark Adkins started a farming operation, Adkins Brothers that grew into a large successful agriculture business.

He was a member of the New Era Golf Club and several agriculture organizations. Treasured family vacations were spent in Florida. Humble and true, he was a fun-loving, honorable, good man who was devoted to his family.
