Gerald Nelson Holtrey, born June 26, 1938, went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2022. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife and soulmate, Loretta; his daughters: Monica Osborne and Brenda (Butch) Collins; stepdaughters: Kelly (Chris) Patton, Karcy (Dean) Castner, and Kammy (Darren) Reiter; grandchildren: Alex (Jill) Collins, Rich (Amy) Collins, Emma Reiter, Carson Castner, Seve Patton, and Ell Reiter; great grandchildren: Camron, Alexis, Jenson, Cecilia, Blane, Tate, and Bryce; his brother, Donald; and his sisters: Doris McManis and Trudy Parsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gladys; his brothers: Galen and Jerry; and his grandson, Tadd Williams.
Gerald never wavered in his faith and was fearless with a great sense of humor. He was a hard worker, took pride in gardening and building things. He enjoyed his furry buddies. Most of all he loved his God, his family, and his country. He was Marine strong to the end. Semper Fi.
Gerald's family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate his life will begin there at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Art Wooddell officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Active-Duty U.S. Marines, VFW Post 8054 and AMVETS Post 87 will follow at Bryn Zion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Gerald's name may be made to the Morrow County Dog Shelter or the Homeless to Home Animal Rescue and Cat Sanctuary.
